The Butterfly Button was born from the personal pain of men and women who experienced domestic violence firsthand and grew up in a reality of fear, silence, shame, and loneliness.

Netanel and Perry, who both experienced severe violence during childhood, dedicated years of their lives to creating solutions designed to protect people in moments when they feel most alone, helpless, and unseen.

The idea for the Butterfly Button was born from a conversation with Lia, a social worker who had personally experienced abusive relationships and shared the immense difficulty women and men face when trying to seek help in a safe, discreet way and without fear of exposure. Together with Perry’s technological experience in developing components of this kind, they began developing an initial version of the solution. Later on, Netanel and Perry continued to develop and grow the initiative and solution, which over the years evolved into the Butterfly Button – an active platform and initiative supporting millions of people around the world.

Today, women from around the world who have personally broken free from the cycle of violence work and volunteer as part of the initiative, and have become an inseparable part of the work, support, and vision of the Butterfly Button.

Since its establishment, the initiative has been presented at the United Nations as a global solution for preventing domestic violence, reached more than 5 million users across over 155 countries worldwide, and expanded beyond the digital space into education, awareness, and prevention initiatives in partnership with dozens of social organizations around the world.
