The Butterfly Button, a digital solution enabling discreet access to help in cases of domestic violence, has already been implemented across hundreds of organizations worldwide. Tens of thousands of users have already received digital support related to domestic violence, and more than 1,200 people have received real assistance.

The Butterfly Button was developed by Netanel Amar and Perry Shalom with the goal of providing safe, simple, and anonymous access to help, without requiring identification and without leaving traces on the user’s device or browsing history.

“The Butterfly Button is a digital platform that serves as a one-stop center for information, guidance, and support in the field of domestic violence,” Amar explained. “All of this is done with complete anonymity, with the understanding that for many people, the very act of reaching out for help is the hardest step.”

According to Amar, one of the platform’s most significant innovations is the ability to allow men as well, including those on the abusive side, to seek guidance and support in a discreet and safe way, without fear of immediate exposure.

“People feel more comfortable seeking guidance once they understand there are no immediate consequences,” he said. “Receiving support through the platform does not necessarily mean someone will knock on their door the next day.”

When asked whether there is any way to identify users or report them, he responded:
“No. We have no way of knowing who the user is. As a platform, we are not exposed to the information that passes through the system. The only people exposed to the content of the conversation are the user and the professional providing the support.”

Since its launch, the Butterfly Button has been integrated into news platforms, companies, organizations, hospitals, banks, communication companies, and municipalities, as part of the vision of turning every website and application in the world into a safe and accessible space for receiving help.

In addition, the Butterfly Button was presented at the United Nations CSW conference as an international technology solution designed to help save lives and support the prevention of domestic violence.
